Tata Motors showcased its Avinya concept electric car back in April 2022. The concept Avinya, derived from the Sanskrit language, stands for "Innovation," as claimed by Tata Motors. The company stated that it plans to launch the Avinya in 2025.

According to a report by Auto Car India, Tata is planning to establish Avinya as an electric car brand rather than just a single vehicle. The Indian carmaker intends to launch multiple products, as stated by Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility.

Inspired by a catamaran, the Avinya concept is described by Tata Motors as an uncompromising vision for electric mobility. The concept combines the essence of a premium hatch with the luxuries and versatility of an SUV and the roominess and functionality of an MPV to create something new and beautiful.

A significant highlight on the front and the rear of the vehicle is the new identity. This new identity, as a part of the DRL, is a subtle nod to the commitment to enhancing the quality of life and emphasizes the Horizon and the infinite possibilities that Gen 3 electrification will offer. The Avinya concept features "Butterfly" doors, welcoming users into a class-leading spacious interior.

The concept is designed with the belief that less screen time is the way to go, opting for a screen-less design to eliminate distractions inside the car and create a stress-free environment for the mind and soul.

Tata Motors describes the Avinya architecture as a global platform that offers high structural safety, the next level of waterproofing, and dust protection, making it suitable for all types of terrains.

The architecture is built with next-gen materials, efficient electronic componentry, and proprietary energy management strategies and algorithms for efficiency management. The use of lightweight materials and an optimized structure for an EV-only powertrain with appropriate stiffness minimizes the overall mass, leading to good weight management. Additionally, the battery used will support ultra-fast charging capability, providing a minimum range of 500 km in under 30 minutes. The overall philosophy for enhanced range is "Minimize - Maximize - Optimize."
