Couple Harassed in Lucknow: 3 Police Officers Removed, 4 Suspended, 16 Arrested in Gomti Nagar Incident

In response to the recent harassment incident in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, the local police have launched a comprehensive crackdown. Officers from 52 police stations are actively pursuing the absconding accused and rioters involved in the incident.

Additionally, five special teams, including a surveillance unit, have been formed to support the investigation. The police have shared footage of the rioters with all station in-charges, resulting in the arrest of 16 individuals connected to the case so far.

The incident, which was captured on video and went viral on social media, involved a woman being groped and harassed by a mob in a waterlogged area near the underpass close to the Taj Hotel in Gomti Nagar. In light of their handling of the situation, eight police officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police, are now facing disciplinary action.
