Sanjay Roy, the main suspect detained for the purported rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, has been married four times. Three of his former wives departed due to his "misconduct."

His neighbors claimed in a discussion with India Today TV that Roy had been married four times. They alleged that three of his wives had left him because of his abusive behavior, and his fourth wife passed away from cancer the previous year.
