Explosions in Tel Aviv: Hamas claims rocket launch on Israeli city

Hamas' military wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, announced on Tuesday that it had launched two "M90" rockets from Gaza aimed at Tel Aviv and its surrounding areas.

Claiming responsibility, the group released a statement saying, "Al-Qassam Brigades bombarded the city of Tel Aviv and its suburbs with two M90 missiles in response to the Zionist massacres against civilians and the deliberate displacement of our people."

According to Israeli media, the sound of explosions was reported in Tel Aviv, but no casualties have been confirmed thus far.

The Israeli army later said that one rocket fell into the sea, reported AFP. "A short while ago, a projectile that was identified crossing from the Gaza Strip fell in the maritime space in central Israel," said the army in a statement.

The Israeli army also reported the identification of a simultaneous "additional projectile that did not cross into Israeli territory".
