Jaya Bachchan’s candid remarks about her daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have once again captured public attention, particularly a video of the past interview that has resurfaced on social media. In this interview, Jaya shared her perspective on the dynamics of her relationship with Aishwarya, emphasizing the distinction between a daughter and a daughter-in-law.

Jaya is having a conversation with designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, Jaya openly discussed her role as a mother-in-law. When asked if she was strict with Aishwarya after her marriage to Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya responded with a straightforward assertion: “Strict? She’s not my daughter! She’s my daughter-in-law. Why should I be strict with her? I’m sure her mother has done that for her”.

Jaya elaborated on her views by stating, “There is a difference between a daughter and a daughter-in-law, you know. I mean, I don’t know why, but you don’t feel you don’t need to respect your parents. As a daughter, you take your parents for granted. With your in-laws, you can’t do that”. This distinction highlights the different expectations and responsibilities that come with each familial role.
