Punjab Couple Elopes , Man's Sister Allegedly Gang-Raped by Woman's Father and Relatives
The accused, who are from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, allegedly recorded the act on their mobile phones, according to sources.
A man, along with three family members, allegedly gang-raped a married woman in an act of revenge after his daughter eloped with the woman's brother, police reported on Sunday.
The suspects, who are from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, also reportedly recorded the assault on their mobile phones, according to authorities.
Although the incident occurred on May 1, the victim was initially too traumatized to come forward and report the crime, police stated.
It was only after she had recovered and stabilized from the trauma that she felt able to approach the police and file a complaint.
The police have registered a case at Tibba Road Police Station against the four accused: Ravinder Singh, his brother Varinder Singh, his son Aman Singh, and an associate, Santosh Singh.
In her complaint, the victim explained that her brother and Ravinder Singh's daughter had eloped in April of this year. On May 1, the four men arrived at her house searching for the couple. When they did not find them, the accused allegedly intimidated the victim and gang-raped her in retaliation.
The victim further reported that the assailants threatened to upload the video of the assault to social media if she reported the incident.
The police noted that the victim is the mother of two children.
