Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a historic visit to Poland and Ukraine from August 21 to 23, according to a report by the Economic Times. This visit marks the first by an Indian prime minister to Poland in 40 years, following Morarji Desai's visit.
In Warsaw, Modi is expected to engage in high-level talks with Polish President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk, focusing on defense and strategic cooperation. India-Poland relations have seen significant growth, with Indian investments in Poland now exceeding $3 billion. Notably, several Indian IT companies operating in Poland employ around 10,000 Polish nationals.
Following his visit to Poland, Modi will travel to Ukraine, marking his first visit to the country since the onset of the Ukraine-Russia war. This visit comes nearly a month after Modi's controversial meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which drew criticism from Western nations and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Modi's visit to Ukraine is likely to carry significant diplomatic implications, especially in light of India's efforts to maintain a balanced stance between Russia and the West amid the ongoing conflict.
