On Friday, intense winds and heavy rain hit Tokyo, leading to numerous flight and train cancellations and power outages for over 4,000 homes.
Typhoon Ampil, located approximately 300 kilometers south of Tokyo, was producing gusts up to 216 kph as it moved north, according to the latest reports.
Several parts of Japan's bullet train network shut down on Friday, including the busy route between Tokyo and Nagoya. In addition, Tokyo Disneyland announced it would close at 3:00 pm due to severe weather conditions.
