In a surprising turn of events, the ICC has relocated the Women’s T20 World Cup from Bangladesh to the UAE. The decision came after civil unrest disrupted plans in Bangladesh, leading to a change of venue.

The UAE, known for its world-class cricket facilities, will now host the marquee women’s event. Matches will take place in Dubai and Sharjah from October 3 to 20.

Bangladesh Retains Hosting Rights While the tournament moves, credit goes to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for their efforts. The BCB will continue to be part of this exciting cricket spectacle.

The UAE, home to the ICC headquarters, has emerged as a cricket hub. Its men’s and women’s teams are ranked 16th in T20Is, and the country’s infrastructure is well-equipped for global events.

ICC Chair Geoff Allardice expressed regret over not hosting in Bangladesh but hinted at future opportunities. Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe also offered support, promising more cricket action in their nations by 2026.
