The Surat Metro project experienced a crane collapse on a bungalow, fortunately, there were no casualties.
A crane involved in the Surat Metro train project collapsed in the Nana Varachha area of the city today. The incident occurred in the Chikuwadi area when the crane, while hoisting a span onto a metro corridor pillar, twisted and collapsed onto a nearby bungalow. The collapse caused damage to some trees and parked cars. Fortunately, the building was unoccupied at the time, and there were no casualties.
An eyewitness, Sandeep Patel, mentioned that the crane's balance was disrupted during the installation of the pillar, causing the collapse. He also confirmed that the nearby house was locked and unoccupied, and no other casualties were reported.
A fire officer confirmed that they received a call about the accident and dispatched fire station vehicles immediately. Upon arrival, they found that one crane had twisted while lifting, causing a load shift to the other crane. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties, but the crane driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
A video of the accident has gone viral on social media, showing the crane toppling over and landing on a nearby building.
