The new CEO of Starbucks, Brian Niccol, will commute 1600 kilometers every day to the office as per the company's agreement.
Starbucks' incoming CEO, Brian Niccol, is set to face an unusually long commute as he takes on the role of the coffee giant's new chief next month. Despite living in California, Niccol will travel 1,600 kilometers each day to reach the company's headquarters in Seattle.
According to his offer letter, Niccol will use a corporate jet for his commute. Additionally, regardless of work-related travel, he will be required to work from the Seattle office at least three days a week, in accordance with Starbucks' hybrid work policy, which has been in place since 2023.
The 50-year-old executive will receive an annual base salary of $1.6 million and will have the opportunity to earn a cash bonus of $3.6 million to $7.2 million based on his performance. Moreover, he will be eligible for annual equity awards totaling up to $23 million.
This won't be Niccol's first experience with such a lengthy commute; he successfully negotiated a similar arrangement when he served as the CEO of Chipotle in 2018.
