One 20-year-old Pakistani national recently crossed the border illegally and came to India. He was caught by the Border Security force. The Superintendent of police, Mr Narendra Singh Meena, confirmed that this young man named Jagsi Koli is 20-year-old and is a resident of Akli Kharodi in Tharparkar district, Pakistan. This man crossed the international border and came to India between the midnight of August 24 and in the early morning of August 25. Jagsi was caught from Jhapda village in Barmer district, which is about 15 kilometres from the India-Pakistan border. An official confirmed that Jagsi was unaware that he entered India and was caught when he was found asking the local villagers about a bus that could take him to Tharparkar village, increasing suspicion in people’s minds.

A senior BSF claimed that this boy said that he had an affair with a 17-year-old Pakistani girl and his village is about 35 km from the international border; the girl’s village is 8 km away. The boy said that he wanted to meet his girlfriend with an intention to elope with her. When his girlfriend refused this idea, he snatched her scarf and threatened her that he would hang himself by tying the scarf to a bunch of a tree, which ultimately broke causing him to fall. The girl’s family arrived and beat him but he somehow managed to escape and cross the border. The officer claimed that as it was dark at that time, he had no idea which direction he was running

BSF officials have found nothing suspicious from him and said that it was the first time he had entered India. He will be handed over to the police where he will be interrogated by other representatives from numerous security agencies.

This incident has raised serious security worries and experts have questioned how a person could cross the heavily fenced Indo-Pak border, suggesting possible lapse in security measures. There is also an assumption that this could be a part of a dry nun by Pakistani agencies to test the awareness of Indian border security and identify potential susceptibilities.
