The Gujarat police have filed a total of 7 First Information Reports (FIRs) under the newly enacted criminal law Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which came into effect on the same day. According to Gujarat Director General of Police (DGP) Vikas Sahay, four of these FIRs were registered in Gandhinagar, the state capital.

The first FIR was lodged at Sector 7 police station against Vishal Rajput (19), who allegedly obstructed the main entrance of the Sector-11 State Transport bus depot with his snacks handcart. The accused has been charged under BNS section 285, which mirrors IPC section 283, dealing with causing danger, obstruction, or injury to any person in a public way or navigation line by any act or omission related to property under one’s control.

Additionally, two more FIRs were filed under BNS section 285: one at Infocity police station against Dinesh Keshuram Gujjar (19), and another at Chiloda police station against Nikul Bihola (19).

Furthermore, another FIR, under BNS Section 281, was registered against Dixitbhai Revabhai Parmar (42), a resident of Rajbhavan Staff Quarters and an auto driver, for recklessly driving his autorickshaw on a public way, thereby endangering human life.
