Amarnath Shrine's Shiv Lingam Melts Amid Heatwave: Reports
The sacred Shiv Lingam at the Amarnath cave shrine has begun to melt just over a week after the commencement of the yatra on June 29, as reported by TV sources. This melting is being attributed to the persistent heatwave conditions in the region. Despite the adverse weather, more than 150,000 pilgrims have already made the journey to the holy shrine to offer their prayers.
The Amarnath Cave, situated at an altitude of approximately 3,880 meters in Jammu and Kashmir, is of immense significance to millions of Hindus worldwide, who regard it as the abode of Lord Shiva.
The region has been experiencing exceptionally high temperatures and intense heat over the past few weeks, contributing to the melting of the Shiv Lingam. Nevertheless, devotees continue to flock to Jammu and Kashmir, determined to seek blessings from Baba Barfani, as the shrine is lovingly called.
