Champions Trophy 2025 India's Participation in Pakistan Uncertain
India's cricket team is unlikely to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, with the final decision pending government approval. The issue is set to be discussed at the upcoming ICC meeting.
With the draft dates for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan released, reports indicate that the Indian men's cricket team may not participate in the tournament in Pakistan next year. The final decision rests with the Indian government.
A source quoted by Sports Tak mentioned that while the tournament details are yet to be finalized, it is highly unlikely that the Indian team will travel to Pakistan. The matter is expected to be raised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) at the upcoming ICC meeting in Sri Lanka.
India has not traveled to Pakistan since 2008 and only engaged in a bilateral series once in 2012-13. Although India was initially supposed to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup in 2023, the tournament was played in a hybrid mode, with India's matches taking place in Sri Lanka.
The PCB has proposed a draft for the Champions Trophy 2025, allocating seven matches to Lahore, five to Rawalpindi, and three to Karachi. According to the draft, India and Pakistan's match is scheduled to be held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on March 1. The opening match will take place in Karachi, with semifinals in Karachi and Rawalpindi, and the final in Lahore. All India matches, including potential semifinals, are planned for Lahore.
