A girl in class 11 in Karnataka gave birth in a college toilet. A POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case has been filed.
Authorities initiated an investigation into the case, pursuing the individual who had been in a relationship with the girl for two years.
In Karnataka's Kolar district, a 17-year-old female student gave birth on her college campus. The student, currently in 11th grade, delivered her baby in the women’s restroom.
The police reported that both the girl and the baby were taken to a hospital. Subsequently, the girl’s parents approached the Kolar Women’s Police Station and lodged a complaint.
A police officer stated that they have initiated an investigation and are actively pursuing the accused. "The girl and the boy had been in a relationship for the past two years. Although the girl was pregnant, it remains unclear how her family did not notice and why she kept this information hidden. As the girl is recuperating after giving birth, we plan to speak with her with the assistance of a female counselor," the police officer remarked. The police have confirmed that they filed a case under Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 376 (2)(n) (committing rape repeatedly on the same woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The police officer mentioned that despite the case being reported after the introduction of new criminal laws, which took place nine months ago, these new laws will not apply to this particular case.
