Prime Minister Modi is on a three-day tour to visit Russia and Austria.
Moscow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Moscow for summit-level talks with President Vladimir Putin, from July 8 to 9, in response to an invitation by the Russian President. This will be PM Modi's first visit to Russia since its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
During the visit, the two leaders will discuss a wide range of topics, including bilateral relations and various regional and global issues. The extensive program will allow for both official discussions and informal talks between the leaders.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized the importance of the visit, noting the strategic partnership between Russia and India. He also highlighted that Western politicians are closely monitoring the visit.
Russian Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated in an interview with Russia's state-run VGTRK television channel on Saturday that the upcoming program of Prime Minister Modi in Moscow will be extensive. He mentioned that the two leaders will engage in informal talks.
"Obviously, the agenda will be extensive, if not overbusy. It will be an official visit, and we hope that the heads will be able to talk in an informal way as well," he said.
Peskov also highlighted that Russian-Indian relations are at the level of a strategic partnership. He mentioned that there would be both one-on-one talks in the Kremlin and those involving delegations.
"We are anticipating a very important and comprehensive visit, which is crucial for Russian-Indian relations," he was quoted as saying by the official Tass news agency.
Mr. Peskov also emphasized that the West is closely and jealously monitoring Prime Minister Modi's upcoming visit to Russia.
"They are jealous - that means they are closely monitoring it. Their close monitoring suggests that they attach great importance to it. And they are not mistaken; there is indeed something of great importance to attach to," Mr. Peskov said in response to a question about the jealous attitude of Western politicians towards PM Modi's visit to Russia, as reported by Tass.
