Gujarat: BSF Officer, Jawan Die Of Heat Stroke During Patrolling
A Border Security Force (BSF) officer and a soldier died from extreme heat exposure at the creek area along the India-Pakistan border in Gujarat on Friday.
Head Constable Dayal Ram and Assistant Commandant Vishwadeo suffered from heat stroke and dehydration while on patrol close to the international border between India and Pakistan. The officers served in the 59th battalion of the BSF.
When they collapsed, the two BSF personnel were on a “zero line” patrol. They were transported to the nearest medical facilities in Bhuj, but they did not survive due to their critical condition.
A spokesperson for the BSF’s Gujarat frontier explained that the two men, along with other members of the force, were on a “long-range border patrol in the remote and challenging terrain north of Harami Nala,” known for its difficult conditions. During their patrol, they encountered health problems and adverse weather.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with their families, friends, and colleagues during this profoundly difficult time,” the spokesperson said.
The Rann of Kutch and Harami Nallah regions are now experiencing temperatures between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius and humidity between 80 and 82 percent.
