Five jail staffers, including the superintendent, have been suspended in Kutch.
In Bhuj, five jail staffers, including the Jail Superintendent, have been suspended after liquor, cash worth Rs. 50,000, and mobile phones were found in the possession of a prisoner inside Galpadar jail in Kutch district of Gujarat.
The prohibited items were discovered during a raid conducted last night by the East Kutch police, as per the directives issued by the Border Range IG Chirag Koradiya. A large number of policemen from various police stations and the Special Operation Group participated in the raid. Two individuals were found to be intoxicated during the raid. Offenses are being registered under the prohibition act and prison act.
Those found with liquor included Manoj alias Pakado Matang, Rohit Garva, Shivbhadrasinh Jadeja, Govind Maheshwari, Yuvrajsinh Jadeja, and Rohitsang alias Sonu Thakor. Yuvrajsinh Jadeja, who recently gained attention as an aide of suspended cop Nita Chaudhary, was among them. An iPhone was also recovered from him inside the jail. Another iPhone was found in the possession of a prisoner named Razak alias Sopari, while an Android phone was recovered from Surjit Devisingh. A common mobile phone was recovered from Hitendrasinh. In total, items worth Rs. 1,40,700, including Rs. 50,000 in cash, chargers, and mobile phones, were recovered from inside the jail.
Five personnel, including Galpadar jail's group-2 in-charge Superintendent LV Parmar, Subedar RS Devda, Havaldar Pinkesh Patel, Sipai Ravindra Muliya, and Shailesh Khetariya, have been suspended and transferred during the period of suspension.
