Actress Anushka Shetty, best known for her role in the Baahubali films, recently shared that she suffers from a rare condition known as pseudobulbar affect (PBA), also referred to as the "laughing disease." This condition is characterized by sudden and uncontrollable episodes of laughter or crying.

The 42-year-old star revealed in an interview with Indiaglitz, "I have a laughing disease. You might wonder, 'Is laughing a problem?' For me, it is. If I start laughing, I can’t stop for 15 to 20 minutes. While watching or shooting comedy scenes, I literally roll on the floor laughing, and the shoot has been halted many times."

Neurologist Dr. Sudhir Kumar explained to The Indian Express that pseudobulbar affect is a condition marked by sudden episodes of laughter or crying, which can be intense and last for several minutes. These episodes may be triggered by seemingly small events, leading to emotional responses that are out of proportion to the situation. Dr. Kumar also advised that deep, relaxed breathing and diverting the mind to another topic can help during laughing episodes, along with relaxing the muscles around the shoulder, neck, and chest wall.

Additionally, neurologist Dr. Alok Mandliya informed FirstPost that the condition, if not caused by neurological disorders, can also be attributed to psychological factors and referred to as "maniac laughing."
