Kalki AD 2898 movie grossed more than Rs 20 crore through advance ticket bookings in India.
The pan-Indian release 'Kalki AD 2898' is all set to hit the screens worldwide tomorrow morning. The mythological science fiction film is performing massively in pre-sales and has grossed more than Rs 20 crore in advance ticket bookings in India. The movie has sold more than a million tickets in the US and over 2,000 tickets in India.
While the government has given permission for a price hike in theaters in Andhra Pradesh, the ticket for the film is being sold at a whopping amount of Rs 2300 for the first day. The movie is releasing in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and English, and advance bookings have opened in all Tier 1 cities, including Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and New Delhi. With the film launching on IMAX, the Mumbai theater is charging Rs 2300 for the screening per ticket.
However, the tickets are priced between Rs 100 and Rs 150 in single-screen theaters and over Rs 250 to Rs 400 in multiplexes all over India. Fans were shocked as the highest craze of the film was shown with a purchase of Rs 2300 per ticket in Mumbai. The IMAX theaters are comparatively expensive compared to the multiplexes, as the visualization and audio are much better, leading the theater owners to charge above Rs 1500 per ticket without taxes.
'Kalki AD 2898' is set in a post-apocalyptic world, and the film revolves around the birth of Lord Vishnu's 10th avatar, Kalki, who puts an end to the sufferings of the people in Kali Yuga. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the movie stars Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani in lead roles, with the music composed by Santhosh Narayanan.
