India Cements has a cement capacity of 14.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) spread across different regions: 5 mtpa in Telangana, 6 mtpa in Tamil Nadu, 2.1 mtpa in Andhra Pradesh, and 1.5 mtpa in Rajasthan. Additionally, India Cements has a clinker capacity of 11.13 mtpa, which complements UltraTech's capacities in the southern region.

Under the deal, UltraTech Cement is acquiring a 23% stake in India Cements from the open market at a price of $90 per tonne. Tushar Chaudhari, a Research Analyst at Prabhudas Lilladher, believes that this development could be mutually beneficial for both companies in the long run and may lead to further consolidation in the cement sector.
