Impact and Residents' Accounts:

Affected residents, such as Pranav Mishra from Jangpura, described how the power supply was abruptly cut around 3-4 am amidst heavy rainfall and restored only by 4 pm. Numerous areas including Nizamuddin, Sector 7 in Dwarka, parts of Pitampura, Rohini, and others faced varying durations of power outages due to adverse weather conditions.

Reasons and Precautionary Measures:

According to BSES discoms (distribution companies) BRPL and BYPL, the power disruptions were mainly attributed to waterlogging and falling trees or branches on electricity cables. To mitigate risks of electrocution and ensure public safety, preemptive power cuts were implemented in waterlogged and low-lying areas. Quick response teams from BSES were deployed to swiftly restore electricity wherever feasible.

Government and Response:

The Delhi government and local authorities coordinated efforts to manage the situation, prioritizing safety and timely restoration of power supply. The spokesperson from BSES emphasized the swift actions taken by response teams to address the disruptions caused by the adverse weather conditions.
