New York Police took action against Columbia University students protesting in support of Gaza.
It has been reported that the New York Police entered the university campus and arrested many protesting students. The students were taken away from the campus in buses. Hamilton Hall, which had been occupied by the protesters for 24 hours, has been vacated by the police.
After the police entered the campus, chaos ensued for about three hours before the situation eventually calmed down. Police have been deployed at the campus gate.
During the arrests, some students were seen encouraging the protesters who were being taken away.
Columbia University issued a statement explaining that the New York Police entered the campus at their request after 9 pm to restore security in the community.
Protests have been taking place in many American universities for the past few days against Israel's attack on Gaza and in support of the Palestinians.
