Pravin Mishra has been caught spying for a Pakistani intelligence agency. He gathered confidential info about Indian armed forces and defense R&D firms, including Brahmos missile data, and shared it with Pakistan.

Mishra is an aeronautical engineer employed by a Hyderabad firm that specializes in producing missile and drone components. His association with this firm raised suspicions, and he was subsequently investigated by the Gujarat Criminal Investigation Department (CID) following a tip-off from the Military Intelligence, Udhampur. CID officials confirmed that Mishra was relaying information to an intelligence agency based in Pakistan.

Did a Pakistani operative lure someone?

Mishra, a resident of Ankleshwar in Bharuch district and originally from Muzaffarpur in Bihar, is accused of a criminal conspiracy with a Pakistani intelligence operative that could have serious security consequences. They communicated via WhatsApp and a fake Facebook ID of 'Sonal Garg'. Mishra allegedly divulged technical information about missiles and drones through being honey-trapped.

The CID has registered cases against both Mishra and officers/employees involved in the conspiracy.

The Military Intelligence had alerted the CID about the involvement of present or retired employees of Armed Forces, DRDO, HAL, and those associated with missile system development R&D in obtaining confidential information.
