Paris Paralympics: Simran Sharma added bronze medal in 200m race.
Simran Sharma, the reigning world champion, made a triumphant return to the track at the Paris Paralympics, securing a bronze medal in the women's 200m T12 final. Competing in the category for partially visually impaired athletes, Sharma, accompanied by her guide Abhay Singh, achieved a personal best time of 24.75 seconds. This impressive feat not only earned her a spot on the podium but also contributed to India's record-breaking medal tally of 29.
Sharma's success was particularly sweet, coming just two days after her heartbreaking fourth-place finish in the 100m T12 race, where she missed the podium by a mere 0.05 seconds. Demonstrating remarkable resilience, she put that disappointment behind her and delivered a stellar performance.
Cuba's Omara Durand Elias, widely regarded as the greatest of all time in this event, took gold with a time of 23.62 seconds, while Venezuela's Alejandra Paola Perez Lopez secured silver. Hajar Safarz
