An avalanche has struck the Mana village in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, burying an estimated 57 workers. So far, 10 workers have been rescued and transported to an army camp near Mana in critical condition.
The incident occurred 3 kilometers ahead of Badrinath Dham, close to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) camp, where the workers were engaged in road construction.
According to BRO Executive Engineer CR Meena, three to four ambulances have been dispatched to the scene; however, heavy snowfall has caused delays in the rescue efforts. Currently, 60 to 65 personnel are involved in the operation.
Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), district administration, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and the BRO are on-site coordinating the rescue efforts.
