In the year 2024-25, the retirement body processed 50.8 million claims amounting to ₹2.05 lakh crore, a significant increase from the 44.5 million claims totaling ₹1.82 lakh crore in 2023-24. The interest rate of 8.25% for 2023-24 was based on an income of ₹1.07 lakh crore, the highest ever recorded, and was calculated on a principal of ₹13 lakh crore. This marked an increase from the previous year's rate of 8.15%, which was declared on an income of ₹91,151.66 crore against a principal of ₹11.02 lakh crore.
