Indian motorsport witnessed a groundbreaking moment as Kush Maini became the first Indian to win the Formula 2 Sprint Race at the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix. The young talent delivered a flawless performance on the legendary Monte Carlo street circuit, cementing his place in the annals of racing history.
Under the sunlit skies of the Côte d’Azur, Maini demonstrated exceptional skill, calmness, and determination. Driving for DAMS Lucas Oil, he clinched his maiden podium and F2 victory in style—securing a lights-to-flag win that left fans in awe.
Starting from pole position due to the reverse grid system, the BWT Alpine F1 Team reserve driver kept his composure and maintained control throughout the 30-lap race. His victory not only marked his first win of the season but also made him the first Indian driver to triumph on the historic Monaco circuit in Formula 2.
“P1 and first Indian to win at Monaco. It’s a great honour and a dream come true, really. I want to thank DAMS and everyone who’s supported me. We keep believing,” said an emotional Kush Maini after stepping onto the podium.
Prominent industrialist Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, celebrated the achievement on social media. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “You are standing tall, @kmainiofficial, and the country stands tall with you. During the emotional post-race celebration, Kush proudly sang the Indian national anthem on the podium. He was also warmly congratulated in the pit lane by businessman Gautam Singhania, whose JK Racing and TVS Racing have been instrumental in supporting Maini’s motorsport journey.
