Ahmedabad Rain: Continuous downpour since late night in Ahmedabad, 27 gates of Vasna Barrage opened, heavy rainfall also in Botad.

Since the evening of September 6, rainy weather has gripped Ahmedabad, and from late night onwards, the city has been witnessing heavy downpours. Due to the intense rainfall, the inflow of water into the Sabarmati River has been steadily rising.
As Dharoi Dam and Sant Sarovar Dam are also releasing water, authorities have started releasing water from the Vasna Barrage as well. A total of 27 gates of the Vasna Barrage have been opened, discharging 32,410 cusecs into the Sabarmati River.
Appeal to citizens: Amit Shah, BJP MLA from the Ellis Bridge constituency and former city BJP president, has appealed to people not to go near the Sabarmati riverbanks or the Riverfront walkway for safety reasons.
Currently, around 95,000 cusecs of water are being released from Dharoi Dam, and 22,000 cusecs from Sant Sarovar Dam. Out of this, more than 90,000 cusecs of water are expected to reach Ahmedabad by this afternoon. Meanwhile, 28 out of 30 gates of the Vasna Barrage have already been opened.
Heavy overnight rainfall in Ahmedabad
Between 2 AM and 4 AM, Ahmedabad received a spell of torrential rain. On average, the city recorded about one inch of rainfall from late night until early morning.
Areas with 1.5 inches: Sarkhej, SG Highway, Chandkheda, Naroda, Kotarpur, Sardarnagar, Maninagar, and Kankaria.
Areas with 1 inch: Jodhpur, Bopal, Satellite, Prahladnagar, Anandnagar, Vastrapur, Memnagar, Science City, Ghatlodiya, Naranpura, Vasna-Paldi, Ranip, New Ranip, Jagatpur, SG Highway, SP Ring Road, Bakarol, Visalpur, Kasindra, Bhat, Navapura, Sanathal, Shantipura, Jamalpur, Dudheshwar, Kalupur, Asarva, Shahpur, and Delhi Darwaja, among others.
