India denies any involvement in the Bangladesh floods and has referred to the allegations as "misleading."
As allegations emerged on Friday accusing India of causing flooding in parts of Bangladesh, the Ministry of External Affairs denied the claims, stating they were “misleading” and “factually incorrect."
During the media briefing, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal responded to a question about the floods in Bangladesh. He stated, "We have seen reports on the floods in Bangladesh, and the narrative is misleading as it suggests that India is somehow responsible for the floods. This is factually incorrect and ignores the information provided in recent press releases issued by the government of India, which clarify the situation."
They have also ignored the "regular and timely exchange" of data and crucial details between the two countries through existing joint processes related to water resources management, the spokesperson said.
Recently, there have been claims circulating that the floods in certain regions of Bangladesh were caused by the opening of gates of an Indian dam, sparking strong anti-India sentiments.
