A dramatic helicopter crash occurred in Pune's Paud area today, but fortunately, all four occupants survived. The AW 139 aircraft, operated by Global Vectra Helicorp, was en route from Mumbai's Juhu to Hyderabad when it encountered severe weather conditions.
The helicopter crashed in Kondhwale village around 2 pm, with locals rushing to the scene to assist the passengers. Inspector Manoj Yadav of Paud police reported that the captain sustained injuries and was hospitalized for treatment.
According to Inspector Yadav, the helicopter faced difficulties due to strong winds and heavy rainfall in the Paud area, which had been experiencing rain since the previous night. Despite the pilot's attempt to land, the aircraft hit a babul tree before crashing to the ground. The impact was mitigated by the tree, which broke the fall.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain in most parts of Maharashtra over the next 48 hours due to a low-pressure area over the east central Arabian Sea off the Maharashtra coast.
